Veeratteswarar Temple
The Veeratteswarar Temple is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in Thiruvathigai, near Panruti in Tamil Nadu. It is one of the celebrated Ashta Veeratta Sthalams—the eight temples associated with Shiva’s heroic deeds—and is also a Paadal Petra Sthalam, praised in the Tevaram hymns by the Shaivite saints Appar, Sambandar, and Sundarar. The temple’s origins predate the 7th century CE, and it remains one of the region’s most significant Shaivite pilgrimage sites.
